With 11 US patents accredited to his name and many more pending, Navin is deeply engaged in a variety of technologies ranging from databases to EI to Web 2.0 to cloud computing. With a BTech in IIT, Mumbai, an MS and a PhD in Databases from the University of Wisconsin, the brilliant career was just obvious to follow. He started as a developer, and went on to become an architect and a manager. After working in every phase and part of the IT space, the best happened to him. Navin did not stop there.

Navin's love for technology did not turn him in a geek, but in an entrepreneur. Navin was one of the first people to actively use the world wide web. In 1994, he created a website of lyrics of Hindi Movie Songs based on the ITRANS song book. Today, that website still exists at smriti.com, and has over 10,000 songs in the database, and is still popular though he stopped working on it many years ago.

 

On a strategically placed sabbatical in the middle of his career, he launched Punetech.com, a portal for the technical community in Pune. The initiative has been flourishing ever since with an enthusiastic response from local fraternity. Navin works for Punetech.com in his free time, and has started many initiatives targeting tech professionals and engineering students. During the recession in 2009, Navin and a few others organized an "Internship Mela" where various Pune companies came together to offer hundreds of jobless engineering students short-term projects and internships. More than 800 students attended the first mela, and Navin has been involved in holding such events regularly ever since.

 

His latest venture is bharathealth.com. As a co-founder and CTO there, he is responsible for creating online software for the healthcare industry.

While building portals innovative in application and unique in design, Navin also writes numerous articles on varied topics. His blogs smriti.com and smritiweb.com/navin/ along with his "for pune, by pune" community portal forpune.com fetch around 10,000 visitors daily! And why not, when his blogs talk about hinduism, parenting and hindi songs as passionately as they talk about the latest in technology. His writing and works give a stage for people to interact, share knowledge and learn new things. Fan following is just a side-effect that Navin never aims for.
